Instructions to Intensify Cleanliness Activities in Rupnagar Under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2026’ Campaign
Deputy Commissioner Emphasizes Public Participation to Make Urban and Rural Areas Clean
Rupnagar, September 18: The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2026’ campaign, being conducted under the Government of India’s ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ from September 17 to October 2, 2026, is being actively implemented across Rupnagar district. Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar, Aditya Dechalwal, directed the concerned departments to work in coordination to further strengthen cleanliness activities in urban and rural areas of the district under the campaign.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the three key pillars of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2026’ campaign are ‘Jan Bhagidari’ (Public Participation), ‘Sampoorna Swachhata’ (Complete Cleanliness), and ‘Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs’ (Sanitation Worker Safety Camps). He directed various departments to jointly conduct cleanliness drives, awareness activities and initiatives related to the safety of sanitation workers, keeping these three aspects at the centre of the campaign so that its objectives can be achieved effectively.
He said that the Swachh Bharat Mission is not merely a cleanliness campaign but an important initiative aimed at creating sustained awareness and a sense of responsibility among people towards cleanliness. He emphasized that while government departments are making efforts to keep cities and villages clean, active participation from the general public is equally essential. He appealed to residents to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings, dispose of waste at designated places and extend maximum cooperation in cleanliness activities.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to ensure maximum public participation in the campaign and stressed that cleanliness-related activities should not remain limited to the campaign period but should continue on a regular basis. He also emphasized giving priority to the safety, health and welfare of Safai Mitras.
On the occasion, District Sanitation Officer and Executive Engineer, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Rohit Kumar, along with Sub-Divisional Engineers, Junior Engineers and representatives of the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) team, were present.
