Rupnagar, September 24: Fulfilling the commitment of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann to provide better facilities to the common people, the STEMI Pilot Project is proving to be a boon for heart attack patients to save precious lives of heart attack patients at Civil Hospital Rupnagar.
Giving information in this regard, Civil Surgeon Rupnagar Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh said that under the STEMI Pilot Project, in case of heart attack, the patient is being treated completely free of cost at Civil Hospital Rupnagar.
The Civil Surgeon said that the STAMI Pilot Project is an important initiative, also known as ‘Mission Amrit’, he said that its aim is to improve the treatment time of patients suffering from (the most serious type of heart attack). He said that under this project, patients are provided with Tenicit Plas Injection (which helps in opening the blood clot in the heart) free of cost, the normal cost of which is Rs 25 to 35 thousand. He said that this project is based on the hub and spoke model.
Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh praised the medical expert Dr. Puneet Saini for his excellent services and said that the lives of 15 patients have been saved by the medical expert so far. He said that in many cases, the condition of the patient deteriorates significantly after a heart attack, which is immediately taken to the Chandigarh PGI. Referral is required and during this there is a lot of risk to the patient’s life but under this project the patient can be cured to a great extent with this vaccine due to the blocks in the patient’s heart pulses, after which the affected patient’s condition is stabilized and sent to the nearest health institution where angiography along with stenting is done. This vaccination is being done absolutely free of cost by the Punjab Government at a cost of Rs. 35 thousand.
He said that so far 15 heart attack patients who came to the emergency room of the district hospital have been saved by administering the above vaccines. He said that under the STEMI scheme, the patient is first checked and after the situation is clear, treatment is given.
Medical expert Dr. Puneet Saini said that about 30 lakh patients suffer from heart attack every year in the country, whose treatment has been started under the above scheme. He said that nowadays due to eating habits, excessive mental stress, less exercise, many people are facing the problem of heart attack due to blockage of arteries, for which people should take care of themselves and should do daily exercise along with nutritious diet.
Appealing to the common people, he said that if someone has chest pain, then it should not be ignored and they should get themselves checked at the nearest health institution for examination.
