Rupnagar, October 15: In order to implement the “War Against Drugs” campaign being run by the Punjab government at the ground level, the District Rupnagar Police is continuously taking action against drug dealers.
Giving information in this regard, Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that under the “War Against Drugs” campaign being run by the Rupnagar Police against drug smugglers and anti-social elements, the District Police has arrested
NDPS In various cases of the Act, one person addicted to drugs was arrested and 19 kg 600 grams of crushed poppy seeds were seized from him. Apart from this, two persons were arrested by the Nangal police station and 01 country-made pistol/katta and 01 live round were seized from them and a case was registered under the Arms Act and 2 persons were arrested by the Kiratpur Sahib police station and 191 boxes of illicit liquor were seized from them.
He further informed that in continuation of the “War Against Drugs” campaign, the district police checked drug smugglers and bad elements through roadblocks and patrols at various places, during which the police station Noorpurbedi arrested drug addict Abhishek, resident of village Barwa, and arrested Sharanjit Singh, resident of village Jhinjri, and recovered 19 kg 600 grams of crushed poppy from him and cases were registered against them under the NDPS Act. Apart from this, the police station Kiratpur Sahib arrested Deepak Banbanshi, resident of village Ailiya, police station Chandbak, district Jaunpur (UP) and Akash Kumar, resident of village Kasori, police station Gangiri, district Aligarh (UP) and recovered 191 boxes of illicit liquor from them and a case was registered against them under the Excise Act.

S. Gulneet Singh Khurana further informed that the police party of Nangal police station was informed by the informant that Raman Kumar alias Rahul resident of Railway Road Nangal and Mithlesh Kumar Yadav resident of village Niangola, police station Teka Patti, Bihar Hall resident of Sabzi Mandi Nangal have a country-made pistol/katta and are coming towards Nangal city to commit some incident. Those who were arrested by the police party of Nangal police station after blocking the road were recovered along with 01 country-made pistol/katta and 01 live bullet and a case was registered against them under the Arms Act.
SSP Rupnagar appealed to the public to fully cooperate with the police to eliminate the menace of drugs and if any person is involved in drug trafficking/smuggling in their area, then their information should be shared on Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline number 97791-00200 (WhatsApp chatbot) or the district police number. The name and address of the informant will be kept confidential.
