Rupnagar, October 06: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Mr. Varjit Walia and the instructions of Civil Surgeon Rupnagar, acting on the news about street vendors published in the newspaper, the Food Safety Wing Rupnagar checked street vendors in Ghanoli and Nuho areas in the evening.
This team included Assistant Commissioner Food Manjinder Singh Dhillon and Food Safety Officer Simranjit Singh Gill. This team inspected various street vendors and checked the goods used and cleanliness etc. During this, the team also collected 02 samples of food items which have been sent to the lab and appropriate action will be taken after the results come. He also instructed the street vendors to obtain food safety licenses and maintain cleanliness of themselves and the street vendors.
Briefing the press on this occasion, the Assistant Commissioner instructed all the shopkeepers of the district, especially the halwais, to keep their shops and workshops clean, considering it their responsibility during the festivals.
He said that every shopkeeper should prepare good sweets and other dishes using good and quality materials so that the people of the district can be provided with good food and drink. Along with this, he also said that in the coming days, shops will be checked across the district and strict action will be taken against those who use unhygienic or substandard materials.
