Rupnagar, October 06: According to a press note issued by Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar, it was informed that under the guidelines of Mr. Gaurav Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police Punjab and under the leadership of Mr. Harcharan Singh Bhullar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police Range Rupnagar, Rupnagar District Police is continuing its action against drug smugglers and anti-social elements under the “Yudh nasheyan virudh” campaign.
Under this campaign, the District Police arrested a drug addict under the NDPS Act. The police conducted special blockades in different areas of the district and checked suspicious persons and vehicles, so that the law and order situation is maintained and the bad elements can be nabbed.
Meanwhile, the Nangal police station arrested drug addict Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha son of Surjit Singh resident of Rampur Sahni Nangal and registered a case against him under the NDPS Act.

SSP Khurana said that the district police is not only taking strict action against drug smugglers, but seminars and meetings are also being held in various villages to make the general public aware about the ill effects of drugs. On this occasion, the public was given information about the Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline number and was also made aware about the harmful effects of stubble burning. People were motivated to adopt alternative methods of stubble management.
He further said that special blockades are being conducted daily to maintain the law and order situation in the district, during which many suspicious persons and vehicles are being checked thoroughly.
He appealed to the general public to fully cooperate with the police against drugs and if anyone gets information about drug trafficking or smuggling in their area, they should share it on Save Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline number 97791-00200 (WhatsApp chatbot) or on the official numbers of the district police. The name and address of the person providing the information will be kept confidential.
