Civil Surgeon Rupnagar issues advisory to public on air pollution

Rupnagar, November 3: Civil Surgeon Rupnagar Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh informed that as the weather gets colder, the air quality starts deteriorating. During this period, air pollution increases due to stubble burning and burning of crackers during Diwali festival, which is a matter of serious concern for public health.
Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh said that poor air quality index (AQI) is especially harmful for children, pregnant women, elderly people, patients suffering from respiratory diseases, police and municipal employees.
He appealed to adopt measures to reduce the impact of air pollution, saying that avoid polluted places, especially slow or heavy traffic roads, check the AQI through the CPCB website before planning outdoor activities, when the AQI is more than 200, avoid outdoor morning and evening activities and ventilate the house during the afternoon if necessary, avoid burning any kind of wood, leaves or waste, avoid burning crackers, eat fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants and drink more water, sick and high-risk people should avoid going out, those with chronic diseases should keep their medicines with them and seek immediate medical advice if symptoms worsen, wear masks on days of severe pollution, use the “re-circulating mode” of the air conditioner in the vehicle or building, stay away from tobacco products, use public transport and avoid burning mosquito coils or incense sticks indoors, indoors during Diwali Stay and seek immediate medical advice if anyone has difficulty breathing.
Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh appealed to the public to plant as many trees as possible for clean air. A tree planted by every person is a step towards a pollution-free future.
