Deputy Commissioner flags off awareness van against stubble burning

Rupnagar, September 25: Deputy Commissioner Varjit Walia flagged off an awareness van to motivate farmers to reduce the incidence of stubble burning to zero.
He said that the Punjab government is making every possible effort to help farmers to mix stubble in the soil so that the fertility of the soil also increases and our environment is not damaged.
On this occasion, the DC appealed to the farmers that instead of burning paddy stubble, mixing it in the fields increases the fertility of the soil and the environment can be freed from the smoke produced by burning paddy stubble, which can provide a good environment and soil for the coming generations.
He asked the farmers to use machinery like super seeder, baler, reversible plough and mulcher on subsidy provided by the Agriculture Department under the CRM scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner ordered the officers of the Agriculture Department, Pollution Control Board and Cooperative Societies to participate in the awareness activities being conducted in the villages to prevent burning of paddy stubble as much as possible.
On this occasion, Shri Jasjit Singh CMF, Shri Pankaj Singh Agriculture Officer, Shri Jujhar Singh Agriculture Engineer, Shri Manjit Singh SLA, Shri Akashdeep Singh Sub Inspector etc. were present.
