“7 Haryana NCC Battalion, Karnal Celebrates World Rivers Day, Spreads Awareness for River Protection”

Rupnagar, 24 September 2025: Today, World Rivers Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by 7 Haryana NCC Battalion, Karnal at the NCC Academy, Rupnagar. A grand awareness rally was organized on this occasion, in which 435 cadets, 17 PI staff and 15 ANO and CTO officers participated. The rally started from the NCC Academy campus, where the cadets raised enthusiastic slogans of “Save the River – Save Life” and gave a strong message of river protection.

At the end of the rally, the cadets reached the banks of the Sutlej River and conducted a cleanliness drive there, in which the local citizens were made aware about the importance of cleanliness and river protection. A speech competition was also organized to raise awareness about river safety, in which 10 cadets gave impressive speeches. As per the results declared by the judging panel, Cadet Yishu Sharma secured the first position, Cadet Yuvika secured the second position and Cadet Priyanka Kumari secured the third position. The winners were felicitated and encouraged.

On this occasion, all the cadets took an oath to protect the river, save water and spread awareness in the society. The program was attended by Colonel K. K. Venkataraman, Commanding Officer, 7 Haryana NCC Battalion, Karnal, Lieutenant Colonel S. S. Negi, Retired CMO H. N. Sharma, Camp Adjutant Lieutenant Dr. Devi Bhushan and other officers.
Everyone appreciated the enthusiasm, discipline and dedication of the cadets and described river safety as an important part of the lifestyle. The hard work of the cadets makes the program more effective and inspiring.
