Rupnagar, November 05: Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar S. Gulneet Singh Khurana while giving information said that as per the directions of Director General of Police Punjab Mr. Gaurav Yadav and under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police Rupnagar Range Rupnagar S. Nanak Singh, under the campaign “War against Drugs” being run by Rupnagar Police against drug smugglers and anti-social elements, the District Police arrested a total of three people including two drug addicts in cases registered under the NDPS Act and recovered 12 drug injections.
He further informed that in continuation of the “War Against Drugs” campaign, the District Police checked drug smugglers and evil elements through roadblocks and patrols at various places, during which Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Sri Chamkaur Sahib, was arrested by the Sri Chamkaur Sahib police station and 12 narcotic injections were recovered from him, and the Sadar Rupnagar police station arrested drug addicts Kashmir Chand, a resident of village Thali Khurd, and Mandeep Singh, a resident of village Rampur, and cases were registered against them under the NDPS Act.
S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that apart from this, the traffic police of Rupnagar, taking action against those violating traffic rules, issued a total of 131 challans for drunk driving, triple riding, obstructing traffic by wrong parking, using modified silencers in bullet motorcycles and other traffic rule violators and to maintain law and order in the district and to crack down on bad elements, special blockades were made at various places and suspicious persons and vehicles were checked.
SSP Rupnagar appealed to the public that if any person is involved in drug trafficking/smuggling in their area, then his information should be shared on Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline Number 97791-00200 (WhatsApp Chatbot) or the District Police number. The name and address of the informant will be kept confidential.
